General Dentistry Forster
General dentistry is the term given to dental treatments that focus on the general maintenance and overall health of your mouth, teeth, jaw, and gums.
These services treat common dental problems experienced by anyone from any age group.
Your local dentist Forster Dr Oxenbould, together with Louise the dental hygienist, incorporates preventative approach into our general dentistry treatments.
For every general dentistry treatment, there is a customised oral hygiene plan that the patient must follow.
Below are our general dentistry services.
Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease has stages based on the severity of the condition. It is quite easy to manage in the early stage if you understand what the symptoms are. Gingivitis often starts with inflammation of the gums. This swelling then leads to gums that bleed when pressure is applied, such as when you are brushing or flossing your teeth.
Root Canal Treatment
Inside your tooth is a pulp chamber and a root canal that contains the pulp tissue. The dental pulp is the innermost part of the tooth that contains the nerve, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the enamel, which protects the pulp from infection, is damaged the pulp is exposed resulting in pain.
When this happens, root canal therapy is needed. The dental procedure removes the pulp and replaces it with a dental filling to save the tooth from extraction.
Tooth Extractions
No matter how much we want our teeth to remain strong and complete for a lifetime, there are some situations that call for their extraction.
Whether by accidents, neglect, or other similar circumstances, an extraction may be required to save other teeth and your oral health in general.
At Forster Dental Centre, tooth extractions are performed only if they are the best option for your health.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth are the last of your teeth to break through the gum tissue. As they are the final ones to do this, there is often little room in the mouth for them to properly align with the rest of your teeth. This can often lead to a scenario requiring tooth removal.
Diseases of the jaw
To achieve good oral health your jawbone should be healthy. Why? Because your jawbone holds your teeth, therefore any injury to them ultimately affects your teeth.
That’s why we at Forster Dental Centre look after all aspects of your dental health. Your jawbone is also checked during a check up for any possible disease.
Sedation
Our dental procedures are designed with your comfort and safety in mind. To help those with dental phobia, we have sedation techniques in the office. Happy gas is popular among children.
